Mt. Washington Bank Hosts Groundbreaking Ceremony
at the Site of the New West Roxbury Branch Location

(West Roxbury, MA) – On Tuesday, September 14th, over 50 residents and business owners gathered for the Mt. Washington Bank groundbreaking ceremony in West Roxbury to hear plans for the banks’ newest location.  The renovation project at 1981 Centre Street, which will be the banks’ seventh banking office, will include a branch café with free Wi-Fi access, internet kiosk, ample parking and a 24 hour ATM for customer convenience. 

            “We are excited to continue to expand our community banking presence within the neighborhoods of Boston and to be bringing our unique brand of community banking and corporate citizenship to the West Roxbury Neighborhood” said Edward J. Merritt, President of Mt. Washington Bank.  Merritt also talked to the crowd about Mt. Washington Bank’s philosophy of providing excellent service and treating each customer as though they were the most important customer of the bank.

            Richard J. Gavegnano, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of East Boston Savings Bank, stated he was thrilled to be kicking off the construction of a new branch through the Mt. Washington Bank Division less than one year after the merger with Mt Washington Bank was finalized.  Representative Michael Rush and City Councillor Maureen Feeney also spoke on behalf of the bank and their commitment to the neighborhoods they serve.

            In closing the ceremony, Merritt provided checks on behalf of the Mt. Washington Charitable Foundation to the West Roxbury YMCA for local programming and Sgt. Jameson for the Area E-5 Halloween party.

            The branch construction is expected to be complete in December 2010 and the bank is planning a Grand Opening celebration for January 2011.
