Opens for Business in Jamaica Plain
Former Roxbury Highland Bank customers now able to access
MWB’S full line of banking products and services
(South Boston, MA) — It was a natural fit when
it was announced over six months ago that Roxbury Highland Bank of Jamaica
Plain would merge with Mt. Washington Bank. And on June 23rd, with its
signs on the building and products and services readily available to its
new customers, Mt.Washington Bank officially opened for business at 515
Centre Street. “We are very proud to be a member of the Jamaica
Plain community and to welcome all of the Roxbury Highland Bank customers
into our banking family,” said Edward J. Merritt, President and
CEO of Mt. Washington Bank.
Mt. Washington Bank’s newest customers will now have access to Totally
Free Business Checking, Online Banking, Telephone Banking, a Call Center
and many other products and services. “We pride ourselves on being
able to offer our customers all of the same financial products that our
larger competitors do in a personal and friendly manner,” said Merritt.
“Our new customers will not be disappointed with this experience.”
In addition to the new Jamaica Plain location, Mt. Washington Bank has
five other branches: three in South Boston and two Dorchester—a
total of $525 million dollars in assets.
The merger between Mt. Washington Bank and Roxbury Highland Bank was officially
announced last December when the boards of directors of both banks voted
to join these two longstanding Boston banking institutions and making
a larger, stronger and more vibrant community bank. After receiving approval
by the banks’ depositors in January and regulatory agencies in April,
the last and final step was the merging of the computer systems, which
was completed on June 21st.
Mt. Washington Bank plans to become fully engaged with the greater Jamaica
Plain community through its charitable foundation, beginning with its
involvement in Spontaneous Celebrations, Hyde Square Task Force, First
Thursdays, as well as several other summer traditions.
