Mt. Washington Bank Inducted into the Junior Achievement
Boston Business Hall of Fame

(South Boston, MA) – May 28, 2009– “Boston’s Community Bank,” Mt. Washington Bank, was inducted this morning into the Junior Achievement Boston Business Hall of Fame. Mt. Washington Bank was honored for its excellence in three key areas: success in its industry, a proven commitment to the community, especially youth and education, and an insistence on growth and investment in Eastern Massachusetts. The induction took place this morning at the Westin Copley Place Hotel in Boston.

“Junior Achievement is proud to honor the good work of companies such as Mt. Washington Bank that have demonstrated an outstanding level of dedication to the communities they serve and are wonderful examples to us all,” said David C. Eustis, Jr., President of Junior Achievement.

During the induction ceremony, Mt. Washington Bank was lauded for exemplifying the best in business practices and community involvement, particularly through the bank’s Charitable Foundation which dedicates 10% of their annual profits to help the people, services, organizations and charities in the communities in which they serve. The Junior Achievement Boston Business Hall of Fame ceremony also honored two other Boston businesses: Pioneer Investments and Stop & Shop, as well as two individual inductees: Maura Banta of IBM and Bennie Wiley of The Wiley Group.

“Mt. Washington Bank strives to be the kind of strong community business leader that will inspire today’s youth and our next generation of Boston business leaders. We’re very pleased to be recognized for our efforts with this honor from Junior Achievement,” said Edward J. Merritt, President and Chief Executive Officer of Mt. Washington Bank.
