South Boston, MA March 16, 2006 – Mt. Washington Bank has joined with the City of Boston’s Department of Neighborhood Development and the Boston Home Center in a series of Meet the Lenders events. These neighborhood events are designed to provide first-time homebuyers and existing homeowners looking to refinance with information on mortgages and special programs.

Two of the Meet the Lenders events have already taken place in Boston and in Brighton. Four more events are scheduled over the next four months, including:
March 23, 2006 Codman Square Branch Library, Dorchester
April 20, 2006 South Boston Branch Library, South Boston
May 25, 2006 Hyde Park Branch Library, Hyde Park
June 29, 2006 Tobin Community Center, Mission Hill

“With the variety of mortgage programs and options available today, finding the appropriate mortgage can be overwhelming,” said Edward Merritt, President & CEO of Mt. Washington Bank. “Meet the Lenders provides us with the opportunity to help individuals find the mortgage that is right for them in order to achieve the American Dream – the opportunity to own their own home.”

In addition to information on mortgages, Meet the Lenders will offer information on free homebuyer and credit courses, home repair and lead paint assistance, free mortgage prequalification and information about City-funded down payment and closing cost assistance. Bilingual staff will be onsite to offer their assistance. All the events take place from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. To register for any of these events, call the Boston HOME Center at 617-635-HOME (4663) or visit www.bostonhomecenter.com

Founded in 1893, Mt. Washington Bank has stayed committed to the promise outlined in its mission statement by being "full-service independent bank, offering financial services to meet the needs of its retail and small business community. Mt. Washington recently announced the opening of its new Gallivan Boulevard branch in Dorchester, representing the Bank's fourth branch location in addition to a stand alone loan center.
