Over 200 Runners/Walkers Participated in the First Annual Mt. Washington Bank 5K Bay Walk/Run

South Boston, MA - - -Over 200 runners/walkers took part in Mt. Washington Bank’s first annual 5k road race on Sunday, October 22. Adults and children from all ages and from various parts of the city and the region enjoyed a full day that included a scenic race route, a prize ceremony, a 50 yard dash for kids and a barbeque. They also contributed to the $50,000 raised from the event, which will go to the Mt. Washington Charitable Foundation in support of educational programs for youth in the communities that the Bank it serves.

“We could not be more excited by the tremendous turnout we received for our first road race and could not be more proud to have raised the money we did in support of such a worthy and important cause - -education. It was a great day for the Bank and a great day for the community,” said Ed Merritt, President and CEO of Mt. Washington Bank.

The overall top male winner was Liam Reale of Providence, Rhode Island and the overall top woman winner was Roisin Quinn of Providence Rhode Island. Both individuals received $250. Other top winners from their respective age group received $50 each for their achievement.
