(Boston - December 12, 2003) --- Mt. Washington Bank and local veterans are teaming up once again to present Mail Call for the Military. This event offers citizens the opportunity to send holiday greeting cards and notes of good wishes to US Armed Forces personnel stationed away from home during the holidays. Mail Call for the Military is coordinated and sponsored by Mt. Washington Bank and will take place on December 13th from 9am to 1pm at the Mt. Washington Branch at 708 East Broadway in South Boston (parking available next door in Brooks' Parking Lot).

During the event, people will honor our heroes currently serving in the military by visiting a Mail Call for the Military table and filling out a greeting card or note of thanks to a person in the Armed Forces stationed away from home during the holiday season. Mt. Washington Bank will collect the cards and greetings and distribute them to a list of US troops submitted in advance by their family or friends.

Given the nation's current military status, Mail Call for the Military is great way to honor and support our brave Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines who are serving in faraway places this holiday season. Last year over 1000 cards were mailed through this program and Mt. Washington Bank is hoping to build on that success at this year's event. This year again, the bank will provide an assortment of greeting cards for people to choose from and the postage will be free of charge to the public.

The following qualifications have been implemented again for Mail Call for the Military:

  • No packages will be accepted.
  • Names, ranks and mailing addresses will be maintained in a secure manner.
  • All cards will be picked up in the bank lobby and left with a bank representative before the customer leaves.
  • The cards will be sealed by the Mail Call staff.

Founded in 1893, Mt. Washington Bank has stayed committed to the promise outlined in its mission statement by being "full-service independent bank, offering financial services to meet the needs of its retail and small business community."
