Boston --- On July 16, 2003, Mt. Washington Bank will celebrate the long awaited return of community banking to Dorchester at the site of its newest home at 489 Gallivan Boulevard. This new branch will mark the return of community banking back to this area of the city after a prolonged absence. City Council President Michael Flaherty, District City Councilor Maureen Feeney and other local officials and community leaders will also be on hand to celebrate.

As part of the celebration, Mt. Washington Bank's Charitable Foundation will help mark the event by presenting two $5000 checks to local organizations. The groups are Dot Art, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to offer stimulating and rewarding visual arts programs to everyone in Dorchester.

And, The Neighborhood House Charter School's summer program, an innovative public school serving urban students from Pre-K to 8th Grade. Both of these donations were vital to ensure that these organizations could offer summer programs this year in the face of a challenging economy and budget cuts.
