Boston - June 10, 2003, Mt. Washington Bank is pleased to announce that application forms for the 10th annual Mt. Washington Bank Scholarship Program are still available at each of the bank's locations in South Boston. The Deadline for submitting an application is June 17.
The scholarship program, which was announced on the occasion of the bank's 100th anniversary in 1993, provides local area secondary school and college students with money to help defray education expenses. Including this year's recipients, local students will have received over $50,000 in scholarship money through this program.

Commenting on the program, Mt. Washington Bank President and CEO Ed Merritt said, "There is no greater resource in our society than our young students. The Mt. Washington Bank Scholarships are not only a demonstration of our appreciation to the people of South Boston, but an investment in our future and the future of this community."

All completed applications should be sent to the scholarship committee, care of Msgr. Thomas McDonnell at St. Augustine's Rectory, 9 "F" Street, South Boston, 02127.

Only students entering or attending tuition-based high schools or colleges and who are permanent residents in South Boston may apply. Recipients of the awards will be selected by a panel of educators assembled by Msgr. McDonnell. Those selected will be contacted by mail. The winners will be presented with their scholarships at an awards ceremony planned for later this summer. For more information, please call Jack Forbush at 617-269-5773.

Founded in 1893, Mt. Washington Bank has stayed committed to the promise outlined in its mission statement by being "full-service independent bank, offering financial services to meet the needs of its retail and small business community.
